Tyson Foods is considering an expansion at its poultry processing plant in Monroe, North Carolina.
According to a report from the Charlotte Observer, Tyson is requiring incentives in order to make such an expansion, and that the Monroe City Council and Union County Commission have approved such packages. The city is offering $110,000 and the county is offering $115,000 in incentives.
Tyson Foods has had a presence in Monroe since 1989.
A spokesman with the company confirmed that Tyson Foods is considering an expansion at its plant in Monroe, but declined to offer any further details.
Ron Mahle, assistant director of Monroe-Union County Economic Development said Tyson is considering other locations for an expansion, but he hopes he will learn Tyson’s decision by the end of December.
