Faccenda Foods to buy duck processor Cherry Valley Foods

  • Mike Johnson
Faccenda Foods has reached an agreement with Cherry Valley Farms to buy Cherry Valley's duck processing business.
    From WATTAgNet:
UK-based poultry producer Faccenda Foods has agreed to acquire Cherry Valley Foods, the duck processing business of Cherry Valley Farms. The companies have not disclosed the value of the pending transaction.
The proposed acquisition, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014, is the latest in a series of investments made by Faccenda Foods that will allow it to expand its operations and its portfolio. Faccenda in 2012 purchased Cranberry Foods, the second largest turkey producer in the UK.
Cherry Valley Farms, which is one of only two major duck processors in the UK, currently operates a facility in Caistor, which is backed by a local agriculture operation of farms and a hatchery. It employs 320 people and generated around GBP45 million (US$71.4 million) in annual sales during fiscal year 2013, according to a report from Food Business Review.
With the proposed purchase of Cherry Valley Foods, Faccenda Foods plans to bolster its position as the only UK supplier of chicken, turkey and duck, as well as create growth opportunities across a broader customer base. The privately owned family business currently operates seven processing plants, two hatcheries and two feed mills, according to the WATT Global Media Top Companies Database
