Brazilian poultry meat exports to gain territory in 2014

Brazil's Agriculture Ministry has announced that it is expecting to open new markets in 2014 for a variety of meat products, including poultry.
The ministry has said that in 2014, Mexico will be a possible destination for Brazilian poultry meat. In 2012, Mexico approved five Brazilian poultry slaughter plants for exports, allowing access to the market via a quota. The Ministry hopes that the number of approved slaughterhouses will reach 40 this year.
Separately, the Ministry has announced that Russian authorities approved two additional plants for export of poultry meat following a visit by the country's veterinary authorities verifying the correction of non-compliance with Russian requirements. Any poultry meat shipped after November 20, 2013, from these two sites will be allowed into Russia. Temporary Russian export suspensions on six other Brazilian poultry processors were lifted in November.
