Wayne Farms teams with Salm Partners to produce chicken sausage products

Wayne Farms recently announced a joint venture with Salm Partners to begin producing chicken sausage products.  The new joint venture company will operate out of the Wayne Farms' Decatur Further Processing facility. The joint venture will bring new job opportunities to the Decatur, Alabama community as well as position the joint venture to be the highest quality and most efficient chicken sausage manufacturer in the world.
"We are proud to announce this new agreement with Salm Partners as the venture allows our company to grow thoughtfully, as well as provide new job opportunities to a community that we've been a part of since 1976," said Elton Maddox, chairman and CEO of Wayne Farms. "We expect this venture will add up to 50 million pounds of production within three years, and when fully operational, add approximately 140 new jobs to the area.
"Salm Partners is excited about the potential to bring additional value to our customer partners through this partnership with the people at Wayne Farms," says Christopher Salm, CEO of Salm Partners.
Execution of the agreement will include the joint venture installing a high capacity co-extrusion and cook-in-package manufacturing system in the Wayne Farms further processing facility immediately, with production of the new products set to begin in the late spring of 2014.
