JBS net revenues increase 25.1 percent in third quarter of 2013

JBS, a Brazilian chicken, pork and beef processor, increased its net revenues by more than 25 percent during the third quarter of 2013, the company announced on November 13. JBS' third quarter of 2013, which concluded at the end of September, was highlighted by strong performances from Pilgrim's, Mercosul, JBS USA Pork and JBS USA Beef.
JBS posted consolidated net revenues of R$24,222 million in the third quarter, a 25.1 percent increase when compared to the third quarter of 2012. The expansion was due to the increase in revenues from all business units.
Pilgrims, JBS' U.S.-based poultry processor, had net revenues of $2.143 billion, a 3.6 percent increase from the third quarter of 2012. The gains were largely made through an increase in revenue per pound sold.
JBS USA Pork posted a 6.8 percent year-over-year increase with revenues reaching $903.3 million, reflecting an increase in prices in both domestic and export markets, combined with an increase in export volumes.
Mercosul, the Brazilian-based poultry, beef and leather processor, posted a net revenue of  R$6.2 billion, a 35.2 percent increase over the revenues from the third quarter of 2012. The growth was spurred by an increase in animals processed.
JBS USA Beef saw a 9.7 percent rise in revenues to reach $4.69 billion. The improvement was largely influenced by higher export volumes.
