Iran's demand for Turkish poultry increased in July as western sanctions on Iran doubled the cost of poultry there, according to Sait Koca, the chairman of Turkey’s white meat association and the CEO of poultry company Beypilic.
Turkey exported $231 million in poultry in the first six months of 2012, up 40 percent compared to 2011 numbers. This increase was mainly due to higher demand from Iran and Iraq, according to Koca.
