An outbreak of avian influenza is suspected near the south-central city of Kiryat-Gat in Israel, at a site housing 11,000 turkeys in three structures, according to local veterinary officials.
Agricultural inspectors have declared a quarantine and began preparations to destroy the birds on instructions of the veterinarians. Other poultry coops in a three-kilometer radius are also being inspected, according to reports.
